Deer Island Meadow Ecosystem
Welcome to the Deer Island Meadow ecosystem! It’s in the state of Massachusetts, surrounded by the Boston Harbor. The land was barren, the air was stiff, the rocks where “dead looking”, and the soil was dry. The producers
were:
Sunflowers, wheat, aster, grass, bushes, and clovers.
There were many consumers there, which were identified as the following :
On our trip we then discovered the decomposers, which were:
Worms, slugs, snails, and bacteria.
Energy first flows through the wheat, flowers, sunflowers, bushes, asters, grass, and clovers. Then comes the consumers, they get 10% of the energy the producers get. It goes on like that throughout the pyramid.
Abiotic means isn't alive or never was alive. A good example of an abiotic organism would be a rock!
Biotic means alive. A good example of a biotic organism would be a seagull, tree, or plant!
